Valentine's Day Measuring

Stem School

During the month of February, many students and teachers like to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  One issue students often face is having a hard time fitting their Valentines into the mailbox of the recipient.  An issue teachers often face is finding a space for every student’s mailbox. This year, one second grade classroom tackled this challenge. Students designed a Valentine box that had an opening to meet specific dimension requirements.  In addition, students then designed a “blueprint” of spaces available in the classroom, to scale, to show where the Valentine containers could be placed in the space available.
