September 2014- Learning is Everywhere

STEM School

September means school is fully operational!  New routines have been established, relationships have been formed, and STEM is integrated into our IB learning environment!  Teachers are hosting extra-curricular Engineering Classes, Programming Classes, and Robotics Classes for students in preschool through fifth grade.  We have a great partnership with CU Teams, who is supporting student learning both during the school day and in after-school classes.  The STEM Coordinator is teaching students about STEM, 21st Century Skills, and the Design Thinking Process.  Kids are collaborating with each other to solve problems and enhance their knowledge of science, technology, engineering and math.  As we move into October, teachers will be collaborating to teach new units of inquiry, embed more STEM Practices into their classroom each day, and work with the IB and STEM Coordinators to further enhance learning.  From understanding the supply chain in kindergarten to learning more about the human body in fifth grade, students will be inquiring, collaborating, communicating and using creativity and critical thinking skills to take learning to a whole new level. Watch out world - school's in session!
