Lights On Afterschool a Huge Success

STEM School

On October 20, 2016 at 5:00PM, Timberline Pk-8 opened its doors to family and community members for a special event showcasing extracurricular opportunities. The evening included multiple stations of make-and-take STEM activities, booths with information about extracurricular offerings and programs from the school and community organizations and partners. School extracurriculars include robotics club, athletics, art club, drama club, student council, science club, 100 mile club, Encore choir, and more. The over 300 attendees were also able to enjoy a Colorado proud street taco dinner provided by St. Vrain Valley Schools Nutrition Services while listening to the music of Timberline's 6th-8th grade mariachi band. "Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families and communities" (Afterschool Alliance, 2016).
