Connecting Scientific Method to Design Thinking Process

K-5 students had the opportunity to learn about the scientific method in a late start CU Discovery class in early November.  They went through a series of experiments about density, mass, and floating vs. sinking.  As our school prepares for an Innovation Fair in January, we made connections between the steps of the Scientifc Method and the Design Thinking Process.  In each, there is a central question and the experiment part can be compared to the prototyping stage.  Students were excited and engaged, and many are looking forward to creating their own projects in the coming months.
