Columbine VEX IQ Robotics Competitions

STEM School

The Columbine VEX IQ Robotics Team has had a great start to their competitive season! They participated in the Timberline PK-8 VEX IQ Scrimmage and the Innovation Center Tournament at the Longmont Museum.

At the Timberline Scrimmage, teams learned the ins and outs of the game and how VEX IQ Competitions work. They focused on how to score points during competition and began to think about how important strategizing is to their success in the game. The R2-D2s were recognized for the work in their notebook and other teams did really well scoring alliance points!

The Innovation Center Tournament was the first official competition for our teams. Teams had worked on improving their robots and practiced their driving skills for this tournament, and it paid off!  Two Columbine teams, the R2-D2s and the Cheetah Men, both finished in the top four teams for points scored in the competition. In the finals, the R2-D2s won an award for Teamwork Alliance Finalists.

Teams will compete in one more official tournament at Fall River Elementary on January 30th. Teams have been working to modify their robots to make them even better for this tournament!
