Alpine Elementary Hosts Robotics Tournament

STEM School

On Saturday, January 24th, Alpine Elementary will host a Vex IQ Robotics Tournament. This year's challenge for tournaments, put forth by VEX robotics, is called HighRise. In the Teamwork Challenge, students are tasked with scoring points on the playing field through their alliance with another team. Each match is 60 seconds long. In addition to the Teamwork Challenge, teams can also participate in the Robot Skills Challenge, where individual robots take to the field to score as many points as possible under driver control.   Students score points by guiding robots to move Scoring Cubes into the Scoring Zone and by building Highrises of Cubes of the same color on the Highrise Bases.

Vex states that...

"The VEX IQ Challenge provides an opportunity for students, with the guidance of an adult mentor, to explore and solve exciting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) challenges. Students develop valuable knowledge, skills, and experience and a tremendous sense of accomplishment in building a robot and developing a STEM research project to compete in the VEX IQ Challenge."

Opening remarks begin at 9:25 AM and the awards ceremony wraps our day at 2 pm.  Come to lend your support to Alpine and other participating teams on January 24.  Spend the day, have some fun, eat some lunch and support education!
