On June 4th, Innovation Center staff were invited to appear on local radio station KGNU's "It's the Economy" segment to highlight our STEM journey and experiences. Host of the show, Maeve Conran, asked insightful questions and sparked excellent discussion around where we've been and where we want to go. Guests on the show included Jeff Lund (Instructional Program Consultant), Becky Peters (Program Manager), LaJessie Dinh (recent graduate of Skyline's STEM academy and Innovation Center student worker), and Samuel Narvaez (current student at Skyline High School).
Student programmers from our Innovation Center spent the weekend using Nao robots to promote advances in egg production for the Colorado Egg Producers Association. Tanner Brohm and Jake Roberts, both students at Skyline High School and part-time employees of the SVVSD Innovation Center (IC), were interviewed by 9 news about their connection with professional projects as part of their work at the IC.

On Friday, February 7th, three of our IB-STEM Student Leaders went on a field trip to meet with student leaders from other schools as well as to learn about the STEM program at Skyline High School and to have a tour of the new Innovation Center. While at Skyline, they were welcomed by Heidi Ringer, the principal, got a nice tour from seniors, then participated in an engineering design challenge. For this challenged, they worked with students from other schools to design and build a structure that was the highest as well as could hold the most weight.
