In partnership with The Rocky Mountain National Park, middle and secondary teachers from 5 St. Vrain Valley Schools met with mentors to develop environmental research learning opportunities. Workshop presenters included Ruth Alexander, Council Chair, Public Lands History Center, Colorado State University, Ben Bobowski and Ben Baldwin from the Rocky Mountain National Park, Barbara Patterson, Forestry Wildlife Faculty at Front Range Community College and Biologist Jeff Connor. The workshop focused on designing student research and historical geography projects that will allow St. Vrain students contribute to citizen science and research in the park. Teachers participated in field studies and learned scientific protocols that will enhance curriculum state standards applicable in their specific disciplines ranging from Social Sciences to AP Environmental Science. Excellent partnerships were formed, resources were shared and teachers achieved new hands on field study for conservation in the national park and in their communities.
