Kindergarten Design Challenge-Trimester 1

Kindergarten students were engaged in a unit of study about animals.  Students recognized that organisms can be described and sorted by their physical characteristics and that scientists use this type of sorting to be clear and specific when describing things.  In addition, based on their knowledge of animal characteristics, students were able to make predictions about the motion of their animal and ask questions about characteristics to help sort animals by type of movement.  Students were challenged to design a fictional creature that could be described by its physical characteristics, and place it in the appropriate habitat, based on those characteristics.
