How students make music

Kindergartners learned about different shapes in the world and how to count to a beat.  The students were practicing their one-to-one counting techniques while following along to the beat of music.  Once students were able to count to the beat and learned their shapes, the creating began.  The kindergartners gathered rcycled materials to construct a 3-dimensional instrument and invented a musical pattern. Students brainstormed what materials they could use and how they could be used to make music.  They went shopping for materials in the STEM lab to begin the building.  Once everything was completed, they used their counting techniques to invent a musical pattern.  Their projects were presented to the school and family in a musical concert.
