Helping others study for math

Stem School

Fourth graders in Mrs. Gilbert's class wanted to help 1st graders practice their math skills. They interviewed the 1st graders in Mrs. Thornton's class to find out what math skills the students needed help with. Some 1st graders needed help with basic addition and others were working on counting by tens. After the interviews, the 4th graders went back to their classroom and brainstormed ways that they could help the younger students. They decided a math game would be a fun way for students to practice math skills. The 4th graders created some math games that had addition and subtraction problems to solve. The first graders were excited about playing a game that was designed for their needs.
