Day 02 - Smarter Buildings (Elementary)

Today was a very busy day!

Group 1

We had a walking field trip to the IBM Command Center, where employees work 12 hour shifts monitoring many large screen to check for many potential problems around the world, and the IBM Green Data Center, where hundreds of computers are housed.  In math, we learned a new word:  measurement unit.  Giving a unit of measurement is very important when giving directions on how to build something.  We also learned about an important step in the design process called empathy.  We designed a bedroom for someone else, so we had to focus on what they like and want instead of our own likes and wants.  We ran out of time to complete our bedroom design, but we look forward to having lots of building time tomorrow.
