It has been our intention to return to some form of in-person learning as soon as it was determined by our health departments that it is both safer and feasible to do so. On September 21, during our virtual town hall with county health department officials, we reviewed the current coronavirus data for our community. To this end, our county health agency partners have made the recommendation that it is now appropriate for us to return to a hybrid learning model. Beginning Monday, October 5, we will be implementing a hybrid in-person learning schedule for all students who are not currently enrolled in the LaunchED program. LaunchED student’s schedules will not be impacted by this change.

Mrs. Fenster's most recent 6th grade math design challenge integrated the arts. Students learned about Cubism (the geometrical depiction of natural forms) made famous by Pablo Picasso. They also learned about attributes and measurements of 2-dimensional shapes. Finally, the 6th graders were challenged to design a piece of art in the style of Cubism. The contraints were that they had to use a certain number of each of the shapes on a list and the shapes had to meet certain criteria in their dimensions or areas. Students were only given two class periods to draw, cut, and color the shapes and create their final piece of art. Armed with rulers, graph paper, scissors, crayons, and their math skills, the 6th graders produced works of art that would make Picasso proud.
