CU TEAMS- Water Wheels

4th and 5th grade students have been learning about hydropower and how people have been able to harness this energy as a renewable source. To explore hydropower, students have been constructing and testing water wheels with Wyatt, our CU TEAMS graduate student. Each group was given a 2 liter bottle, notecards, cups, spoons, and tape. As students prototyped, they tested each material to find the best way to maximize the energy they can obtain from two cups of water. Students counted the revolutions of their bottle to measure the effectiveness of their design. The best design had 47 revolutions and several others were close with 30+ revolutions.
