Camouflaged Habitats

Our fourth graders recently finished up their Structures of Life unit and were given the following challenge: "How might we create a habitat for a creature to camouflage itself from predators?" One group in Mrs. Rickman's class worked collaboratively on creating a habitat for a black panther. They researched what a panther in the wild would need to keep it safe from it's predators (mainly humans). They included a tree, as a place for it to climb to safety, as well as vines for it to hide behind.  Both creativity and critical thinking were involved to complete the project. In this project, they were able to demonstrate mastery of Evidence Outcomes (2.1.a, 2.1.d, ad 2.3.b) for the 4th grade Life Science standard.
