6th graders Problem-solve Using Equations

Students in Mrs. Fenster's and Mr. Salz's math classes interviewed a partner about challenges they faced when trasitioning to 6th grade, such as staying organized between classes, opening lockers, and getting to class on time. Each student then designed something to help their partner and created a list of needed materials from a given supply list. Each material had an assigned cost and students had to stay within a particular budget. The teachers would only give supplies to students who wrote a correct equation using variables to represent the combination of supplies and final cost of the design. Don't be surprised to see robot hall monitors, fingerprint recognition lockers, and digital binders in the halls of Timberline in the future.
