6th Graders Develop a Playground for Middle Schoolers

During a math unit on scales and ratios, Timberline 6th graders measured a field outside the school and worked through the design process to create a playground their fellow middle schoolers would enjoy. Some of the ideas included in the playground designs were climbing walls, shopping centers, texting zones, and laser tag arenas.  The students used math skills they have learned, including calculating area and proportional ratios, to create an exact scale model of the playground.
