2nd grade connections

2nd graders in Mrs. Sochia's class had been reading all about robots and what they do. The class visited the Timberline STEM Lab to create their own robots based on their research.  Students learned that many robots were created to help people or to make a certain skill easier. Modular cubelets were purchased for their school through the Race to the Top grant, so they students were able to begin a hands-on experience by creating their own robots.  Students spent time learning how to connect the cubes together to help make their robot move, spin, or light up.  They collaborated with each other in groups to understand what each cube did and how they might use it as part of their robot.  The ideas were amazing!!
