2nd Grade: Caring for Terrariums

During the months of October and November, 2nd Grade students learned about plants and their needs. They used their skills as scientists to grow and observe plants in their classrooms. They soon discovered, with the upcoming Thanksgiving and Winter Breaks, that their plants wouldn't have any teachers or students around to meet their needs. Their challenge was to design a way to provide plants with light, water, and heat to help keep them alive when no one is around to care for them. Students prototyped many different solutions to this problem. Prototypes varied from automated watering and lighting systems to robots. Check out the videos and photos to see what they came up with.
